3 new ways to shop at Just
Autumn 2008

We want to reward our loyal customers, make food shopping a little easier and make buying fair trade products even more sociable and fun.

So we now have Just...loyalty. Every time you spend £10 in the shop you receive a stamp. 6 stamps equals a free £5 voucher to spend in Just, or for 10 stamps get £10. Sign up now and get a free bar of chocolate! (while stocks last)

Why not hold a Just... Do to introduce family, friends, neighbours or work colleagues to the joys of fair trade! We can provide invitations, a box of gorgeous products for you to sell with the story of the transformation that fair trade is bringing to the producers communities and a short DVD to bring the stories to life.

You decide the sort of Just... Do that’s for you, maybe;

  • at home; a coffee morning, or tea after school, or an evening with a glass of wine
  • at work; at lunchtime in the office,
  • at the local school or your place of worship
  • In the shop, we will open especially for you and your friends after hours, with free refreshments, we can also offer a short informal talk about fair trade, the stories behind the products we sell.

So pop the kettle on, or open that bottle of wine and enjoy a Just... Do where everything that’s sold means a better future for the person who made it; food on the table, children at school, clean water in the village.

And Just... nearyou is about making basic fairtrade food shopping a little easier. The regular purchase of fair trade goodies makes a great difference to our producers. But we know shopping for food in town and then carrying heavy bags home is a pain; so Just have made it more convenient…

How monthly food ordering will work:- :

  1. Order food on line on the Just website.
  2. Pick up groceries from a choice of local pick up points.
  3. Pay on pick up.
  4. Enjoy; knowing your shopping guarantees livelihoods now, and in the future

This is not yet up and running, if you would be interested in a Just near you pick up point in your neighbourhood please let us know.

Just Fair Trade Prize 2008
March 2008

The Just Fair Trade Prize winner, Alex Hillman, medical student at Leicester University receiving his fair trade hamper of Just goodies and vouchers from Sarah.

His essay was judged by tutor Dr Adrian Hastings (right) to be the best in the Health and Development Module of their course.

Thanks go to Adrian for sponsoring the prize and local charity Skillshare International for delivering much of the teaching.

During the module students develop understanding of issues around health and international development. It also builds understanding of the health needs of people living in Britain who originate from developing countries, are disadvantaged, or living in poverty

0 Just’s Blackbird Hotel
30th January 2008

It may only be the beginning of February but at Just we are playing host to a mum and her 4 chicks.

The Blackbird chose to build her nest in the small courtyard between our shop and the church next door and before long discovered she is really in a bit of a blackbird hotel!

Kerry is keeping mum happy and well fed on fairtrade sultanas and when the chicks hatched at the end of January mealy worm were added to the menu.

All are happy and healthy though I’m a little worried that the chicks are so well fed they’ll be too fat to learn to fly!

Fairtrade Fortnight 2008
